Video: A Day With Nick Zammuto

This video was posted earlier this month in Nick Zammuto’s Blog. It is a short documentary by Matt Day, portraying a day in Zammuto’s life. I enjoyed it a lot, not only because it shows his envy-worthy lifestyle, but because we can see his process of songwriting/recording. Those familiar with the sounds of The Books and Zammuto will find this interesting because he unveils many of his weird musical techniques (that are often thought to be electronic, but really are analogue… or a weird hybrid between the two).

Update: Read about The Books breaking up. :(

Track: Zammuto – F U C-3PO

I was completely unaware that Nick Zammuto, from The Books had a solo project. About a month ago he released an EP titled Idiom Wind, featuring the track F U C-3PO. This song will also appear in the forthcoming self-titled album, to be released the third of April, via Temporary Residence. Zammuto seems to be sticking to his old experimental style, but the use of electric instruments has increased a lot. The thing about Nick Zammuto is that never ceases to innovate (a quality that I’ve always loved about The Books). Listen:

Listen to The Books.
